After an hour of slow climbing we reach the picnic area at the Refugio des Cairats and take a timely rest.

From here we deviate from the main path and follow a forest track that weaves up the side of the mountain, finally reaching the top of Puig Es Teix at 1064m.

View from the top The vista from the pinnacle is incredible, taking in the peaks of the Puig Mayor and Puig Massenalla to the north and Puig Galatzo to the south.

From the top we continue down to the Archduke's path and follow the ridgeline before descending through the neighbouring valley back to Valldemossa.
