You could describe this walk as the long route between the beautiful villages of Fornalutx and Biniaraix in the Soller Valley. It provides stunning views over the Valley and a dramatic descent through the Barranc de Biniaraix.

lofre1 After a short transfer the walk begins in the main square of Fornalutx, overlooked by the church clock. Passing the old tower we join the Cami de Creuer and cross the bridge over the torrent. The track climbs though orange orchards and olive terraces before joining a steep path up the eastern side of the Valley. There is a short scramble in a couple of places.

The reward for the effort is a commanding vista over the Valley. One can see the Port of Soller and lighthouse and, to the north, Penyal des Migdia with the radar station on Puig Major peering around it. Eventually you reach the Portell de sa Costa, a cleft in the ridge.

From here we follow a path across the head of the Son Torella Valley to the Coll de l'Ofre. The three 1000m peaks of Sa Rateta, na Franquesa and Puig de l'Ofre stand in front of you. The Cuber reservoir is to our left.

Taking the GR221 there is a scenic descent via the pilgrims' steps through the Barranc to Biniaraix. Here there is the chance for a well-earned drink in a cafe in the village square before a transfer to the Port.
